Having just converted my desktop to Thunderbird to replace the awful 'new outlook', I installed the T-bird mobile app on my Android. Using the QR was seamless and a really great feature and I like the interface and range of options. Sadly, that's where my praise ends because it won't sync or push emails. Even when I can see an email on my desktop there's nothing on my phone, no notification on the screen or app icon. Even manually refreshing the inbox several times doesn't work = disappointing.

Thanks for trying us and we're sorry for any frustration setting up push notifications. These are enabled by folder, and for directions, you can go to Settings > Misc > Get Help > Settings and read the article 'Configure push email...' We hope this helps get push notifications working on your phone!

I use Thunderbird desktop version, which is excellent. But the android version of it clearly has mailbox synchronisation problems. When I select the option to fetch all the messages in the mailbox (with multiple accounts configured), it fails to fetch all the mails for multiple accounts. I, therefore, installed this app twice, but uninstalled it on both the occasions. The user interface and importing the account settings from desktop version through QR scan, are, otherwise, really good.

Thanks for your thoughtful feedback, and we're sorry you're having synchronization issues. We're working on improving app performance, and you can follow development updates at blog.thunderbird.net - we hope you try us again later this year and have a better experience!

Mostly good -ish. A bug for me on this App is I can't move my emails from the Trash folder if I deleted them by mistake! There's no option to 'move' once in Trash!!! What's with that? No matter what you change in Settings 'Move' option never shows in the Trash folder or any Pop3 folder! Changing 'swipe right' to 'Move' produces no action at all on any folder that is Pop3 only Gmail ones- I have non Gmail email accounts too!! I said there is NO 'Move' option at all (even tho ticked in Settings).

Thanks for your feedback, we're sorry for any frustration! If the IMAP folders aren't synced, sometimes this can happen. You should be able to move the message by clicking on it in the Trash folder, clicking on the three dot menu in the upper right corner, and then Move, or to use the Swipe 'Move' action. We hope this helps!
