I have been using a Ring doorbell for the last year but need to look for an alternative. Despite being user friendly and simple to use, it is extremely unreliable. I've missed many deliveries and guests simply because it often fails at its main function, a doorbell! Even though full battery and full signal, half the time it simply doesn't work: not recording motion and not ringing the doorbell. It's great for live view, but can't be relied on as a doorbell or motion camera.

(October 2024 update) 5 years since originally reviewing and still no ability to set motion detection and door bell at different volumes, seems like those should be a basic feature so now downgrading from 4 to 3 stars. (April 2019) generally good. One improvement needed that comes to mind is the volume setting is the same for both door bell and motion detection, would be useful if we could control them independently so I can lower the volume of the motion detection but not the door bell.

I used to be able to check battery status of the Ring Doorbell by just one click of the App. But today I noticed it hasn't been recording so my first thought was the battery. Where has all the information gone. Trying to find the simplest information is impossible if like myself you don't understand the modern world of technology. I've been looking for the battery info for past 3 hours and they've been soul destroying. Go back to when finding info was simpler. Not happy at all.
